To a lot of people, the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands is very attractive because of different reasons. Perhaps therefore in the summertime Zeeland is visited by a lot of Dutch and foreign tourists. As tourists spend money and have to pay, in an indrect way, some taxes on some occasions to the provincial or local government (e.g. integrated in admission fees), they are more than welcome (!). The provincial government, being very inventive, decided a couple of years ago to pay Zeeland farmers some subsidy for sowing flowers-seeds along the borders of their fields. So, a lot of fields in Zeeland are surrounded by flowers in the summertime, making Zeeland even more attractive to tourists than it already is. This series will show you some results of this well-considered action.

PS: in my title I've mentioned them wildflowers because they grow in open fields, but on close examination is this not correct as this kind of flowers can be found in gardens and parks as well.

Hope you like this post. Thank you in advance for your comment.

That is a beautiful summer scene. Whether the flowers are in fields or in designed landscaping, they are gorgeous. Everything in the distance is beautiful, as well. Very nice capture, Cornelius.

Brilliant policy...reminds me of Ladybird Johnson's campaign in the United States to have flowers planted in the medians of our highways. Lovely shot. In Virginia we have some of these flowers growing wild along the edges of the forests and in pastures.

Such a splendid idea to brighten up the world with flowers everywhere. I love it! For this little investment, the country adds to its coffers through tourism brought about by the government's clever foresight. Now why didn't we think of that? lol

That is a great idea your government had C. To answer COG's question above: "They didn't think of it because they were too busy voting themselves raises and insuring they would be paid that for the rest of their lives." Sorry about the sidetrack.

Beautiful shot. Have you noticed more of the tourists taking photos of scenes like this? I would love to visit your country and help pay (indirectly of course) for my time there. lol

What an advanced government you have! Paying residents to plant flowers.
Wish the world governments would spend money on that sort of thing instead of armies!

Hey Corny!! What a wonderful idea, I wish America would do some of that. This is a most beautiful photo you've taken.Having more flowers I believe brings more pleasant happier people too. Here it seems all they "grow" is more and more condos and huge houses. But not only is the foreground absolutely lovely in your photo, I recognize a lot of flowers, but I love how you got the house and lots of trees next to it and then capped it all off with that gorgeous skyfull of clouds. Great photography Mr Corny!!:) V

Wonderful composition Mr C. I love how my eyes travel from the lower right through the flowers then across the field to the horizon up the clouds then down to the house and back to the flowers. It leads the eye well. Beautiful landscape!
