Simply said, but it's pretty hard to capture an image with only a few essential elements of life and cast unnecessary things aside.
Therefore I've chosen for an approach with minimal colors (B&W) and minimal key elements (so using 'some' empty space as well), which still exudes an atmosphere inherent to the 'Minimalist' contest topic.
Edit: this image is replaced by my 'Nutshell' image as entry for the Minimalist contest.

This is what they say is deceiving the rule of thumb and you have done a excellent job as some times this proves dead space can look good.I like how you have the foul both looking to the right and the ripples add a nice feel to this photo too.I do hope this makes sence to you Mr C.
