This is a detailed image of the spire of the Abbey Tower in Middelburg, Zeeland, The Netherlands.
The tower has gotten the nick name 'Lange Jan' which stands for 'Tall John'.
I can only provide you with its story in the Dutch language. But by checking-out you can see some photograps with the entire tower, giving you a better impression of it.
Some details: the tower was built in the second half of the 14th century, but was destroyed three times by fire. The last time because of a German WWII bombardment in 1940. The last restoration was completed in 1955.
The tower has a height of 90.5 meters (297 feet) and has a carillon with 40 bells which are played at daytime (twice an hour) causing a cozy atmosphere in the streets of Middelburg.
