In the narratives of the mini series Decorated Bridge I've told you already that Middelburg, a town in Zeeland, The Netherlands, has in its old part some canals. To cross these canals, there are many small bridges.

This capture was taken on one of these bridges. Think it will you provide you a proper impression of such a canal.

PS: meanwhile (October 18th, 2022) the flowers who decorate these bridges are almost gone!

Is Hallowe'en celebrated in the Netherlands, C.? If so, then I could easily see myself taking my boys (well, when they were little--the youngest is now 36) trick-or-treating from boat to boat, ship to ship down this canal. There is a lake here, right up against the Canadian border, that is ringed by private homes and perfectly tied and docked watercraft--much like this image of yours. Each July 4th they put lights all over their boats and have a night parade on the lake. Each Hallowe'en the lights are orange and they trick-or-treat on the lake, from dock to dock. And each Christmas the boats or docks each have a lit pine tree on them. y'know, in keeping with the season, I was wondering if you might happen to have a night photo of one of your boat-lined canals, with boats trimmed in lights.

Happy Trails and Happy Hallowe'en!

'Nik', Halloween (October, 31th) isn't widely spread in The Netherlands. We have on November, 11th (the day Saint Martin was buried) a pretty similar event to Halloween (but without frightening effects). As soon it gets dark on the evening of November 11th, children from the ages of 5 to 12 go door to door (mostly under parental supervision) with (hand-crafted) lanterns while singing appropriate Saint Martin songs, in order to receive candy or fruit in return.
About illuminating the boats: as far as I know there's one day that a lot of leisure boats are festively illuminated at night time: the birthday of our His Majesty King Willem Alexander. At day time theses boats are dressed overall, but participating is on voluntary basis.
