Of all the cathedrals throughout the Italian countryside, two stand out as my favorites -- this one, in the beautiful medieval town of Orvieto, in the Umbria region, and the cathedral in Siena. Shot with a Nikon polarizing filter. Thanks to all who view and comment.

Ah, those lovely frescoes really can be seen so beautifully in your shot, especially since you used the polarizer. I love the whole design with stautes and rose window and I don't think I've ever seen such a beautiful cathedral. I see why you like this one best. The perspective is really great too.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

very nice Donna, great details. That blue sky really makes it stand out boldly.

A friend of mine works in a camera store. The other day a very confused looking woman approached the counter and handed my friend a camera. She said "I took pictures, but I forgot to have film in the camera. Can you please get them out of the camera for me?"

This is a great shot. The moment I saw this picture, memories from my 2005 trip of Europe came back to me. I stood and looked at this exact cathedral in awe of its structure and beauty. You captured both of these well and the colours/detail are great. Thanks for posting!
