Dazzling colors in this one, Donna. It's hard to find something to nitpick in this one, but . . . maybe a little cropping off the bottom, and especially off the left side, in order to put more emphasis on that wonderful promenade? (PS: What the heck is that pink thing below the Hotel Marconi?)
Greg, the pink think is a gigantic lizard. We found a few of them above the doorways of some restaurants/businesses. I have no idea why they were there. I thought they were a bit of an eyesore but I'm not good enough at cloning to get rid of it.
Several of my photos are available for purchase in larger format at Shutterpoint, and some are also available in high quality framed prints at http://djholmes.imagekind.com/
A giant pink lizard, eh? Now I'm really curious. And it's certainly not an eyesore with regard to your photo. I think the Caedes folk are in agreement -- the more color, the better!
Always remember - Follow the Yellow Brick Road, it will lead you to the Emerald City and OZ A very nice place to be. Trust me on this one, I live there. :-)................ MY GALLERY - THE LION****Another Site I'm AT - MY DA HOMEPAGE

Wow, this certainly is GRAND! What colors and breath taking imagery. I bet it was hard to believe that you were actually there! Would have been for me! lol
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Donna, superb photo. Terrific colors. Thats a nice old wooden boat in the corner. So this is The Venice version of Interstate 70. lol. Great job. Terry
Donna, In doing a Google search on Pink Lizard in Venice several hits made reference to a Venice rock concert with a group called Pink Lizard. The sites were in Italian and were French to me. Thats probably why the inflatable critters were above the doorways. Terry
I love the three baskets of red flowers in the upper windows on the right. There's so much to see here, Donna. I like the angle and I respectfully submit that it gives the viewer the sense of what your title conveys: the grand canal...sort of like the main street or superhighway :) One thing struck me as I thought about being there is: Are there any walkways across the canal? It would seem so strange to not be able to walk across the "street"..LOL.. at least no one has to watch out for "J" walkers :) Super shot :)

EDIT: I did notice that you were on a bridge, but I was thinking more in terms of other transportation.
"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web." Pablo Picasso
The perspective is wonderful and I feel a real sence of distance looking at this. I have seen many pictures of this area (never been fortunate enough to go there) and this is perhaps the nicest one I have ever seen.
Donna, I'm going to have to make a special backgrounds folder titled "Donna's Tour of Italy" as your photos are so amazing. Every time this beauty comes up on my monitor I just stop what I'm doing and stare... ~Mary~
What a nice perspective ! the view is not bad to. If only the Italians could bring down their temperment back to a Northern European perspective... it would save them so much energy, not to mention the amount of clicking their claxons wich is not done in the rest of Europe. Italy is nice, but the people are to loud for me.
