Every morning, when I can, I take my dog down to riverfront for a walk. Lately, I have been taking with me my old Nikon FG20 film camera. I took this photo the a fews mornings ago. After looking up in my bird book I am pretty sure this is a Double-Crested Cormorant perched on this rock sculpture. I thought it was nice shot with this Cormorant surveying river with the City of Detroit in background...sort of nature in harmony with us. This image is straight out of camera...no editing, just slight cropping. I used Fugi film ISO120 and shot with 50MM lens...thanks for viewing and comments in advance..

Great capture Gerry. He looks so cool sitting there looking at the skyline. Very nicely done. Thanks for sharing him.

This is very well composed and the bird on the rock pile is the perfect touch. He does look like he's contemplating the city. He's a nice contrast as well, nature vs. civilization.

Wow, you were on the ball catching him before he flew away. What a nice composition with the skyline of the city as a back drop!

Gerry - cheering! - bet your old friend was glad to be in your hands again. This is very well composed and extremely interesting with the city/nature contrast. Beautiful sky, too - well done!

love it Gerry! I thought the bird was part of the sculpture at first and thought "how clever positioning the sculpture in the white space between the buildings" - and then I read your narrative - even better it is a real bird - wonderful that you were able to capture him like this - the buildings alone would have made a very good image, but this adds something special to it. Is the Detroit Convention Center in this picture? That's where I be sent all the time. Wonder if you can see that from your side of the river. This is a great post and a bonus with the bird.
