Took these pictures of Spider along edge of pond at Nature Preserve this past weekend as we had beautiful summer weather over the weekend...but has turned much cooler now.
I am trying to think of a suitable word - incredible perhaps is the right one.
Wonderful work Gerry, a splendid macro.
I cant look for too long though, the s creatures give me the heebie jeebies.
And they bite as well you know. I know, one did, bit me.Just as well I did not know the meaning of caedes when I first came here lol.
Hey there Mister Madman, wat'cha know that I don't know
Tell me some crazy stories, let me know who runs this show
Glassy-eyed and laughing, he turns and walks away
Tell me what made you that way
"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Beautiful! I believe I shot one of these last fall --> http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Caedes::Infopage&image=imbusion-1160026442.jpg , or at least something close to it.
I'm pretty sure the species is Argiope Bruennichi. Their webs are characterized by a distinct zigzag band near the center. Well captured! :)
