At the top of Blarney Castle with my back to the famous stone, looking down into the ruin as rain begins--note the drops in the center of the pic. The people give it perspective. And just for another sort of perspective: when I was first here 20 years previous, the line to kiss the stone was so long, it wound all the way around and down to the ground floor and out onto the grass. Blarney, Co. Cork, Ireland; September, 2016.

That's a heckuva lot of kisses, Ted. I hope someone cleans the spit off the stone, periodically, if they don't want an outbreak of mono going around southern Ireland. From the images of the stone I'd seen in the past I assumed it was on a ground level, not at the top of a castle. Beannaithe bo! (gaelic for "holy cow", pronounced Ban-ee-eh Bo)

Yes, there's a guy there that holds you as you lean waaaaay back to kiss it, then he sprits it with disinfectant for the next person.
