This is a baby Komodo Dragon, I captured this when we were at the Calgary Zoo, Alberta (May 08, 2016) even being a baby he was still really big.

A average adult male will weigh 79 to 91 kg (174 to 201 lb) and measure 2.59 m (8.5 ft), while an average female will weigh 68 to 73 kg (150 to 161 lb) and measure 2.29 m (7.5 ft). Of course I took this through very think glass and he/she came right up beside the glass. Also known as the Komodo monitor, is a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands

Used Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 to bring out more detail, also doing layers and decided to blur the background so the dragon would stand out.

Thank you in advance for you comments and stopping by to have a look.

Have a great day, ♥ Skates

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

You nailed this shot. The detail is amazing. I'm surprised at the different colors in the different scales.

Baby or not - must keep clear - their saliva is so poisonous as to kill a grown man. Nice and sharp photo Pat.

Terrific close-up, but I'd hate to run into that character.

It has apparently an eye (sorry, I have to correct it to 'one eye') on you, Pat, ☺ ☺ ☺ .

Great shot of this 'handsome critter', my friend. Very well done!

I think a baby behind glass is beautiful but sure I would not like to encounter a fully grown one in the wild !
Th made a great shot with fine detail on this Pat.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

After seeing all the horror shows about these guys I'll not be getting very close to one. You got a nice close up head shot.
