pukas are shells that are used to make jewelry. puka means hole....so, pukas are shells with holes in them. they can be found in all sizes here at this beach if you're willing to take the time to look. this place is really called haena state park. it's about a mile from "the end of the road". enjoy!

I would love to take a walk on this beach any time of the day & search for pukas. A beautiful capture Jen & very nicely composed. I love how the waves are coming in & the footprints add that much more to the image. Excellent. Faves for sure.

Those your tracks, Jen? Wonderful contrast in the water and clouds and such a beautiful beach. A really fine perspective as well.

This is such a great photo with the sand, water and sky. Throw in a little point to watch the action and you have this great photo. All that is missing is Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster. Great post Jen.

Oh Jen, you brought back more old memories with this one! When I was a teenager Puka Shell necklaces were the thing to wear. Wish I still had mine! Anyway, very lovely capture my friend!

Great shot and narrative. Is the sand true to color? Looks like a bed of Greypoupon mustard. Neat!

You always find a refreshingly different take on your beach shots, and this one is no exception. Yup, I took a copy for my Jen collection!
