OK, so i'm in scary territory....people. i've decided to do a little series of photographs from a masai village in tanzania. the color is right on as it was an overcast day. it seemed dishonest to pump it up. it was a very dry place with hardly a touch of color except for that worn by the people who lived there. i thought this lady's hands said it all! thanks in advance for any comments. ENJOY!

Beautiful primary colours on this statuesque woman, which give an arresting focal point to the monochrome background. Yes, her hands (and feet) are exquisite and I think you've made a lovely capture of her, Jen.

this is a great portrait, i really like the contrast between her bright clothes and the stark background. i think the composition could be stronger if she wasn't so centered, although maybe that's just me. perhaps cropping out the branches and such to the right of her? just a though, still a very strong capture, great work!

The rich colors of the clothes contrast with the poor background. Excellent!

responding to abby's statement. i guess i could make the picture more square and move her out of the center. with these dimensions she was too tall to crop and move. does that make sense? obviously i could have done better had i thought of it before i took the shot. i just get too excited and seem to lose control of my brains.

A beautiful portrait Jen ... I like the natural colors in comparison to the women's clothing. She does appear to be relaxed & poised ... makes me wonder what she is looking at. Very well done Jen & I'm looking forward to the others ... I love people shots.

As we can see that the lady wears very colourful clothes, think your image reflects the situation exactly as it was. Great portrait Jen, showing us to that there are still people on this world who have to (and can) live without all the luxery goods we are used to. Very well done!

Love the colorful lady with the starkness of the background Jen. It really adds to the mood of the post. Good work.

Yes, this IS GREAT!
You lucky girl! What was that like, visiting the masai. They probably made me look small!

Fabulous capture Jen, such clarity, detail and love the pop of colours in her outfit. Wonderfully done.

I’ll be visiting the new postings and once the skating is finished, I’ll be leaving more comments then I have in the past few days.

All those beads, yet no buttons. I'm impressed. No need for a color pump here, that woman cuts a very bright and colorful figure standing next to those structures that I presume are shelters. I am awed by the use of natural products and hands used in making those. I am also awed that you can so non-chalantly announce doing a 'series' on the Masai. I would love to be able to announce such a thing. You are so fortunate, Jen, to have been here. Can't wait for the rest of the series. People make the best photographic subjects in my book.

You've been to such unusual locations. Are you the traveller of Caedes? Excellent moment caught, full of emotions. Don't worry about people shots, you can do it as I see. Many thanks for sharing. :)

In my humble opinion, the comp is fine. She is not dead center, and the branches on the right look fine. You are right in not "pumping up" the shot. It looks so natural. A fantastic piece of photography, Jen.

Cut nothing out ... it's beautiful as it is! Very nice exposure, and DOF. The background it a big part of the photo, so it's nice and it's very sharp. Another one to keep and make me homesick for Africa, but keep them coming please.
