this was taken VERY early in the morning. i had heard how beautiful it was at first light. the problem was that the wind was blowing so hard that i worried what i might get. fortunately, as you can see the wind didn't blow the rocks. this definitely looks better full frame when you can see the formations in the back. thanks so much (in advance) for any comments you might make. ENJOY one of the seven wonders of the world.

Love the effects the rising sun creates on this beautiful nature scene of the canyon Jen. Sure is a remarkable and breath taking scene.

Ok...this one is my favorite so far! Love the golden colors in the front of the photo showing the light. It shows the grand "Ah" of nature.

The lighting is gorgeous on the canyon ... I can only imagine how spectacular it was in person. Very nicely captured Jen ... love the depth you caught on this one as well as the textures.

I have enjoyed one of the Seven Wonders Of The World, thank you. This shot is beautiful, and I'm glad you were there to take this and share it with us. Also glad the rocks were nice and solid in the wind, and you had a steady hand, or tripod.

I remember how I got up early an made a run to the canon rim to catch the sun. And I did! I still habe a lot of slides like this one. I also remember there was frost on the inside of our RV! It was so cold that night that Tanja and I shared a single sleeping bag!
Great pic.

I have a feeling that the cold had nothing to do with Paul and Tanja sharing a single sleeping bag. I was waiting for the John Wayne view of the canyon Jen. You didn't disappoint. Faved.

Jen, this must've been a sight to behold. the low angle of the morning light really brings out the texture of the rocks. The sky, in this shot, really doesn't seem to add anything to the dynamic to the scene. It's just sort of there. Might you consider then, just cropping it out, and making the image all about the canyon itself?

Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.

Yes, it is the most wonderful piece of your series. Now I really understand that getting up very early makes such a huge difference. Daytime shots are not as wonderful as dawn or dusk shots. Hope I will be able to get up once very early and catch a wonderful moment like this somewhere. Many thanks for sharing. Your travel shots are one of the finest pieces of this site. Trust me. ;)

I almost forgot, faved of course.
