This charming bird was on the beach. We were in a boat. Seeing Richie's lapwing reminded me that I had photographed one, too. Thanks in advance for any comments or looks. Again, I'd like to say that ALL the shots were taken with a 70-300L lens. I would have found it too difficult to use a 100-400 lens because of hand holding and heaviness. This lens worked so well. I highly recommend it. Canon has a rebate on it right now. ENJOY!

I was just thinking I had seen a lapwing this morning. Well, between you and Richie, this is the only way I'm ever going to see one. He sure is a beautiful little fellow. Looks like you might have been lying on the ground to get this angle. Nice post, Jen. Sorry I must have read too quickly. I see now that you were on a boat.

Jen - You caught this bird in mid-stride. The feather textures and subtle tone changes are captured so well. Being in a boat for this photo, you had the big glass on the camera. Well done! Thad

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine The Earth without art is just 'eh'.
In order to capture this one from a boat this way, there are three posibilties: 1. you were in a small boat (with little depth). 2. You've used a big tele lens. 3. A combination of 1 & 2. Think I'll choose for #3, lol. Anyhow a very fine capture, Jen.
