This is my Friday Foofy - the Bleeding Heart. Here is some information regarding the Bleeding Heart. Most flowers have symbolism that dates back to ancient times. The name alone suggests potent symbolism and meaning: wearing your heart on your sleeve and pouring your heart out for all to see. The center of the flower is deep pink like a heart and the color pours onto the crisp white petals its innermost feelings. Hearts for February!!! Enjoy!!!

This is such an excellent bleeding heart image Laura - I always find them so challenging to photograph since they bloom in the spring - the windiest season in the windy city!

They can be a challenge to photograph as the flowers are so delicate and they seem to move at the slightest breeze.

This makes sense, since they are on a limb and your sleeve is on a limb, Laura. The limb is on a tree and Tree Huggers have been called Bleeding Hearts. :)
Me likely this shot of symbolism.

It's an excellent posting for this Foofy Friday Laura.

In my country these 'Dicentra spectabilis' (old name) or 'Lamprocapnos spectabilis' (new name) are called 'Broken Hearts' (in Dutch: 'Gebroken Hartjes').

If they had chosen for another name, it would have been a very apt one for Valentine's Day (February 14th) as well, lol.

Thanks for both a very fine image and an interesting narrative.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Laura - Excellent capture. These delicate little blooms flutter in the slightest of breezes; your image of them is tack sharp.
