This is the 10pm view from Reynisfjara beach, near Vik on Iceland's south coast, looking towards Dyrholaey, where there is a bird sanctuary and naturally formed rock arch and stacks. I'd spent a frantic afternoon running around scouting locations for later photos along this 5km stretch of coast for when the light would be right, then a frantic evening rushing between the various spots I'd picked as the sun started turning everything golden. As the sun finally sank, and I was able to turn and face the glowing sky, this was one of my picked locations, with a blazing sky as backdrop to the silhouetted Dyrholaey, and flowing seawater blurred by a 1 second exposure. I'm fairly pleased with the results...!

Very pleasing photo to view. Colors are soft and natural. The waves show good motion. Its a keeper for sure. I was distracted at first by the pointed rock thats near the bottom right corner. It seems to stick out a little too much, but it does help add perspective. Thanks for sharing this one with us---tim

Oh wow. I love the ocean! This one is so beautiful. It gets the grayish blue of the water, the soft looking sand, the gentle hues of the sunset. Just beautiful. Makes me miss my families old vacation spot North of San Fransisco on the coast. You got a great one here. Keep up the good work!

P.S. Give my Gallery a look if you get the chance. Have a great day.

The one second exposure really brings this one out. Makes it very a smooth water and enhanced sky.

This is great. I was in Cornwall earlier this year and wondered how a longer exposure of the shoreline would come out, but I never got around to trying it. I'll be sure to next time I'm near the coast.

That is how photography should be. You can't just take a picture whenever you are there. You have to wait for the right time. Doesn't always feel better when you plan out a shot before hand and then go do it. I really like this one. You did well to have something to look at in the forground (nice blured water/pointy rock), and something interesting in the distance aswell. The background could perhaps be sharper like the forground, but im nitpicking.
