This is the Duke of Lancaster ship. She is moored in a dry dock just outside of Mostyn in North Wales. She actually looks as though she is about to run aground into the fields and road. She is an amazing site just in the middle of nowhere as it were, and I have a real soft spot for her. I was lucky enough to go on a cruise on her identical sister ship the Duke of Argyle in the 80's.

Sadly she is falling into a very bad state of repair as you can see. ALthough there is now a friends group who intend to help the owner repair her. And believe it or not, someone does actually live aboard to keep an eye on her. She was built by Harland And Wolff who built the Titanic, although some low life has been on board and stolen her makers plate.

I didnt manage to get too close to her on this visit, but did get a couple. I have left the trees in this one a I like they way its hiding her.

Thank you for looking and any comments, they are always appreciated xxx VIDEO HERE

Love the angle showing us that the ship is after you Jo, look out, lol. Marvelous capture with the trees and field making it look like it really is sailing in the field. Fabulous find and capture

What a cool shot, It almost looks sad, leafless trees, cloudy skies and the poor old ship rusting away.

Nice conceptual photo.

You putting this into the recent comp?...has all the ingredients!....

Nice find..such a shame that all these have to be mothballed, when they could be made for other uses!...

Great entry for the contest. This shot moved me to want to know more about the ship and it's past glory. Well done.

Hey Jo
We have one of these ships stuck on shore down by the coast. It has not fared as well as this one though. I like your idea to leave the trees to hide her a little I also like the rust stains streaming down the bow.
