Probably better known as a "sun dog" rather than the title I gave it. lol When the sun is at the correct angle to ice crystals in the air they form these mini rainbows. Usually only a couple colors appear as is the case with this one, and nothing near the size of a full rainbow. This day there were 3 or 4 of these appearing shortly before sundown. I managed to get a decent shot of this one. Thanks as always for your views & comments!

Funny..it does have the look of a rainbow...but I guess it's made basically of the same stuff. Imaginative title too!! Thanks for sharing this, Dan, but you know, it doesn't look like a dog at all....too pretty..lol (my apologies to all the dog lovers for this politically incorrect joke)
