Or maybe the title should be "Chief of the Hills"!? Crazy Horse sits high atop his mountain looking out over the Black Hills of South Dakota. As you can see there is still years worth of work to be done before he will be complete. The construction equipment I showed in a previous shot can barely even be made out now in this shot. If your ever in the area this is defintitely worth the time to stop and see it and hear the story. They do also occasionally do a night time blasting. I have seen a video of that and it really is impressive, as is the museum here. I thought I'd save the full view for my last post of this. Thanks for all your views & comments on these! C):-)

Nice shots Dan, and thanks! I can remember when he started this project and everyone thought he was loco. Nice to see some progress photos of it. Hope I can live long enough to see it finished, so I wish they could pick up the tempo, LOL!

It looks quite impressive in its unfinished stage so I can only imagine what it will look like upon completion Dan. Really nice how you've composed this peering over the tree tops giving us a perspective of how large this mountain really is. Hope you can share with us what the finished project looks like in the years to come.

I'm going to have to go and do some research. I'm wondering if it took this long to "build" Mt. Rushmore...

Thanks for this view of the whole project. It must have been awe inspiring to be there!

We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"

Ahh this shot really give scale to the expansive size of this project. Love the tree tops. Nice work.

This one really put everything into perspective Mr Dillon. It is hard to believe the hole is probably the area between the Chief's arm and the horse. It looks so small from this distance. I like how you presented this whole series. Great work.

The whole thing is absolutely incredible! It has to be dangerous work too, blasting away the stone. Amazing! Wonderful shot of the long view for us too, Dan. Thanks so much for this usually unseen undertaking.

I remember visiting the Black Hills in the early 80's & I didn't get a chance to see the Crazy Horse project. The view of it is spectacular & I like the trees in the foreground. Wonderful capture Dan & so nicely composed.
