Skagway, Alaska, USA. When it was built, this bridge was the largest of its kind. That was connected to a wooden truss wold not have instilled confidence for railway engineers. No longer i use, the railway follows the contours of the mountains around the valley to another, newer bridge. Enjoy!

It looks like a lesson in geometry from this angle Thad. What a view! Great shot.

How they can build a train bridge out of wood is beyond me. (But then, a lot of things are beyond me!) LOL. Another fantastic and gorgeous shot, Thad.

Great shot - but not the bridge for me.

I am glad they built a new one. I would have pray for dear life if I had to cross that thing. Really nice shot of the old bridge.

Whoa! I'd be pretty hesitant to cross it too. What a sight.

I too wouldn't like to ride over the bridge on a train. Nice impressive view Thad.

First of all. This is a very well composed capture that I would imagine that you had to take awhile to find a good place to shoot from. Second of all the men that built this bridge had to have stones of steel.

Is this the bridge you used for the bungee jumping on your trip, Thad? Paraphrasing Billy's comment, you have stones of steel.

Spectacular shot. Each of your Alaska shots is more glorious than the last. While this bridge is an amazing sight, it demonstrates man's feeble attempts to show some control over this rugged terrain.

Technically and artistically, this shot is perfect. No complaints from me.

We have the saying: in former days men of steel builded wooden ships, nowadays men of wood build ships of steel. Think this saying is valid for this construction as well, lol.
Wonderful and impressive image, Thad.

I was going to say that is one heckuva tight turn onto that bridge. But I see it is no longer in use, so I'll retract that statement. In it's place I state that I wouldn't want to be ridden out of town on those rails.:)
A great feat of engineering to construct the bridge. A great looking landscape to back the bridge up. A wonderful job, Thad.
