Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska, USA. The face of this glacier is one mile wide and 250 feet tall. The surrounding rock rises 3 to 4 times that height into the low lying clouds. Enjoy!
The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
A gorgeous sight, Thad. The pano style adds lots to the lines of the elements in the image. I'm glad to hear there are glaciers that remain and hope they continue for millenium for earth's sake.
This is one of those amazing shots that needs a person or the Empire State Building in the shot to put things into some sort of perspective. It's a spectacular shot with wonderful colors and splendid clarity. It just plain looks frigid. Very impressive, but you should have put this on a timer and swam into the frame.
Thad - I'm sure when you told the purser you wanted your drink on the rocks this wasn't what you had in mind. A fabulous capture of the ice field. Good textures, details and colours in the photo.
