Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. When arriving at the visitors center at Monticello, the home designed and lived in by Thomas Jefferson, you are greeted by his likeness in this life-size bronze statue. Executed by Stuart Williamson under the direction of Ivan Schwartz, the nearly 6' 3" Jefferson appears as he looked when he returned to Monticello after serving two terms as U.S. President. His genius was reflected in his political career and in the many interests that were evident in his beloved Monticello. The depth of his impact on the world is recognized by Monticello and nearby the University of Virginia as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Annually, 450,000 visitors come to Monticello.
