Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. On Mulberry Row, the 'industrial hub' of the plantation, and where hewn log slave quarters were built, the chimney remains from the blacksmith shop, and later added to the building, a nailery. Because it is unstable, designs have been made to stabilize it. In order to do that, an archeological study is required, evidence of which is seen here. The work was completed for the day, with tarps put in place due to anticipated rain that evening. The nailery was added in 1794, with the hopes that is would be an income producing enterprise, with nail rod being shipped from Philadelphia.

Nice to see they are preserving the history of Monticello, Thad.
The tree seems to be guarding the site.

Good that they can keep it like this even though this is exposed to weather. Interesting capture Thad.

Thad, it's good that awareness is present to not let not undergo history by bad weather conditions. Hope that this monument will be restored in a proper way to keep the history alive.

Good to see they are preserving history unlike other places in the world where they are actively destroying it. After suitable looting of the place that is.
Good composition and perspective in the photo, Thad.
