This sculpture was located in the gardens at my hotel in Bali, Indonesia. They could be praying; however it is not a normal position for Hindu prayer. They are draped in cloth black and white sarongs.

Nice shot of the sculpture Doug. It looks more like sorrow or shame than prayer. Could be meditation as well.

They seem to be hiding their faces in shame!...or weeping!

Couldn't find any info on this!..so, a bit of a mystery!

Nice find and a great piece of camera work to this

What a marvellous sculpture and close in view...I also suspect it may be shame or perhaps humility in the presence of a higher caste...great shot, Doug.

What a strange but wonderful sculpture this is and you captured this scene one hundred percent with stunning detail, light and composition. Why they are covering there eyes I am not sure but Indonesia as several statues covering there eyes as if to block some thing out maybe sin.Great photo and very interesting too.

I think they are trying not to laugh at the sight of you in a sarong, Doug. Good focus and clarity in the photo. A good angle and composition of the scene.
