This sculpture was located in the gardens at my hotel in Bali, Indonesia. They could be praying; however it is not a normal position for Hindu prayer. They are draped in cloth black and white sarongs.
The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
What a marvellous sculpture and close in view...I also suspect it may be shame or perhaps humility in the presence of a higher caste...great shot, Doug.

I think speak and hear no evil decided to join see, Doug. Maybe when you go back the next time, they will have their hands over their mouth or ears. I too posted a sculpture today. Good shot.
Lu 17:24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. ........ My Gallery
What a strange but wonderful sculpture this is and you captured this scene one hundred percent with stunning detail, light and composition. Why they are covering there eyes I am not sure but Indonesia as several statues covering there eyes as if to block some thing out maybe sin.Great photo and very interesting too.
From some of the information I could find it seems to be of Meditating Shy Yogi of Bali found in Asian gardens denoting peace and tranquility. A nice shot of the sculpture Doug.
I think they are trying not to laugh at the sight of you in a sarong, Doug. Good focus and clarity in the photo. A good angle and composition of the scene.
