An old song title but, this is no ordinary House Sparrow. This is a "Song Sparrow" ... easily identified by the streaks and dark spot centered upon its breast. A welcome visitor in the garden with it's cheerful song. Caught this one early this AM singing it's little heart out.

I was not happy with the dull overcast sky filling the background due to the perspective dictated. Since the bird lacks vivid color I decided to tinker with the overall coloring to concentrate more on the shape and detail on this little guy. (At least that's what I convinced myself I was doing) Kinda liked the outcome ... what say you?

I love what you did with this, John! With a moncharomatic color shift, you bring the attention down to the composition and pinpoint clarity. A very oriental approach to beauty.

I got this in the VB, not knowing whose it was, and thought that it was really kind of nice and not a usual post and I had to see whose it was. I really like the treatment on this. It makes the bird really stand out for me and I can concentrate on his form and not his color as you said.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes
