I work with third grade kids and this year we got eggs from a duck farm, with a incubator and Heat lamps. I didn't think much of the eggs until they started to hatch, It was so great for the kids to witness the ducks pecking there way out. We were cheering them on! We were allowed to keep them for a week and then the farmer came and took our new friends away, The farm treats the ducks very good and he works with a lot of schools and he told the kids that we could always come back to visit our baby's. Some of the name the kids picked to call the ducks were, Captain Duck (first born) Professor Duck (He looked smart) and names like that. On a personal note; I might not be on a lot until Monday. My daughter is in 5 more dance recital, the last one is Sunday night. So please forgive me if I don't get to comment on a lot of your photo.

I remember back in grade school, that we did that, only with chickens. It was really something to see them hatch. Thanks for sharing this wonderful photo with us.

What cute duckies. baby ducks are so darling. Did you noticed your camera focused on the grass instead of the ducks? The grass is tack sharp. Use the center focus point of your camera has that option.

Great shot. In normal life, the momma duck helps peck them out of the egg. But it shows, survival of the fittest.

Lovely colors and details. Such a cute fuzzy group. I love that the children were able to witness their emergence out of the eggs. Amazing to me how quick and drastic they can change.

I've always said that in my opinion you can't go wrong with either ducks, geese or swans as your subjects and that goes double for cute babies.

I was a Governor of a local Primary School here in New Brighton for many years and one day on visit to the school I was in the Special Needs classroom when an egg they had in an incubator started to hatch. To say it had the children gripped was nothing to how wonderful I thought it was! Thanks for bringing back the memory.
