The angle of the winter sun certainly makes squirrel photography a bit more challenging. I saw this squirrel grooming itself up in a tree and got this shot using a 50-500mm zoom at 500mm.

It's a beautiful picture of a lovely squirrel. It's obviously set for winter but don't they hibernate?

Squirrels do not hibernate that I'm aware of. Love the sky, tree and squirrel only in shot. Magnificent colors Robert

He must have been quite a distance from you. A terrific pose and the sun gives him a nice warm glow on his winter coat.

Looks like this may have been shot with a brand spanking new 40D?

I love the position of the squirrel, the detail in the squirrels fur and the position of the branch in the shot. Truly fantastic.

He looks like a real pascha on that branch. What a pose! I love to see his tail twinning on the branch. I love the lighting and this terrific composition Bob. :)
