Took this yesterday on a cloudy (for us) afternoon. With a 'finger' about 80' high, Finger Rock is one of the signature structures in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains, immediately adjacent to Tucson, AZ (there are houses at the base of the near ridge!). For experienced hikers, you can hike up there - the top is at 5000'+; but the highest peak in Catalina's is over 9000'. BTW, the light green vertical slash marks on the near ridge are 30' - 40' high sahuaro cacti.

Wonderfully executed, Rick, and a very striking image. Guess it would make a great landmark if you get lost; just look for the finger LOL NM and AZ are both places I love visiting so I'm especially fond of these photos - thanks! - Patty

Beautiful scenery Rick and so wonderfully composed. It's pleasing to see some greenery on the beautiful rocks as well. What an amazing post with clarity and nice depth. Would love to be hiking out there -- x-any snakes of course ;) My heart is in the southwest and I go frequently so this is a lovely way to see it at different times of the year. Thanks for sharing such a beauty.
