The Library of Congress Migratory worker 1939 Title Migratory worker in auto camp. Single man, speaks his mind. "Them WPAs are keeping us from a living. They oughtn't to do it. It ain't fair in no way. The government lays them off (that is in Work Projects Administration - 1939) and they come in because they're locals and take the jobs away from us that never had no forty-four dollars a month. I came out of Pennsylvania, used to be an oil worker. I'm getting along in years now and I seen lots of presidents and lots of systems. Voted for Roosevelt both times and I don't know of any president that ever leaned toward the laboring man like him, but this system they've got here in the fruit is a rotten system the way they work it." Yakima Valley, Washington Contributor Names Lange, Dorothea, photographer Created / Published 1939 Aug. Subject Headings - United States--Washington--Yakima Valley Headings Nitrate negatives. Genre Rights Advisory No known restrictions.

I had an uncle that went to Yakima Valley to help pick apples about this time Rob. It makes me think of him. I never saw him without a pair of overalls on, except his were the striped variety.
This guys reminds me of the late Wilford Brimley without the walrus mustache.
Colorization is top notch as always. Enjoyed the man's comments. He was a witty fellow.
Excellent post.

Result is perfect, you don't have a time travel device do you? Colors really suit this scene beautifully.

Rob, thanks! Not only for the perfectly colorized photograph, but also for an excellent documented narrative.
One can clearly see the discontent on the face of the man because of the social injustice experienced.
That way you have again made an excellent contribution to show a phenomenon that, even today, is still valid.
Perfectly done again, my friend, 👍 !
