Shot in Manual mode with the Canon 450D with the canon ef70-300 IS USM lens.

I gave the manual mode a try, I don't usually do very well but I think I pulled it off with this one. Might not be perfect but I think it's presentable. ??

I hope you like #4 of the Pin-up series.

Thank you in advance for your comments.

A big thank you to Jerome for naming these lovelies- (foxgloves).

You need to tell people like me what they are......otherwise they just go into the 'flower' category in my brain. LOL Fine job Sandi......pink bells. :)

Foxglove also known as Digitalis from which is derived the heart medication known as digoxin. Such a beautiful plant with a practical use. Very beautiful take, Sandi.

Oh yes, you pulled it off and that is the mode you should shoot in at all times unless you are in a real hurry. It's not that hard. You do have to understand what apertures do what. Higher numbers give you greater DOF (say from F8-F22). Lower numbers give you less DOF and a more blurred background say from F2.8 to F 5.6. So, choose the appropriate aperture for what kind of DOF you want. Then as for the shutter speed, are you going to need to stop action (fast speed) say 500 on up or a lower speed of 400 on down. Choose your speed and set it. Now, if the combination of chosen speed and aperture isn't compatible, your camera will tell you in the viewfinder and then you will have to make necessary changes of either shutter speed or aperture depending on what you want to acheive. The goal is to have the dial fall about midway on the scale in the viewfinder. Dark day? Have it fall plus one or maybe even plus 2 past center. Bright day? Have it fall minus 1 on the scale. Use the thumb wheel to change the shutter speed. To change the aperture you need to press and hold the AV button (see your manual, page 72, if you don't know where that is) and turn the thumb wheel again.

You may already know all of this but if not, this is some good information. keep shooting in manual mode. Master it. It will always provide better results.
