Another effort using a 31mm macro tube, hand held.

After trying out the canon 100mm macro lens, I started to think of purchasing that lens. The macro tubes are much less expensive, so I thought I would give them a try first.

I have seen them range in price from a little under $60.00 - $120.00. The set I bought are auto and have metal rings.

Thank you for comments, and I hope you will take the time to view this full screen.

Sharp focus on the bee Sandi - also the purple flowers look good against the blurred green background.

---I have seen them range in price from a little under $60.00 - $120.00---

Sandi, they are much cheaper than here. When ordered by mail, one has to pay the customs: the difference in price between here and the USA. Think I will travel to the USA to buy some, lol!

If this image is taken with macro extension tubes, must say that the result is very good, but think that the photographer earns the credits instead of the tools.

Regards, Cornelius.

Wonderful shot. It is facinating to watch them go about their work.

Boy, I'm going to get into trouble on this one. Sorry, Tigs, but I'm going to disagree. Maybe it's my recent brush with death that we've chatted about recently, but this looks a little bit off to me. Now I've never taken a shot this sharp; but as compared to your usual offerings, this seems substandard. Maybe it's the small image size, but to me it looks like the sharpness is on the flowers and not on the bee. Or rather on both but not on the entire bee. Seems like the DoF is a pinch off. If this was anything other than an original "Tigs, 2011" I would give it the ol' "Nice shot" slop.

Very very successful macro with extension tubes. I wonder why the size is small. Is this cropped or resized? Anyways the result is very good.

I have no experience with extension tubes, but do have attachable lenses that magnify 1X, 2X and 4X, but I don't use them, probably because they are a pain. Like the 1.4X extender you have, I wonder if you have to change your f-stop when using these. The butterfly shot was fantastic, but this time it seems a bit dark and shows less detail, but that could also be due to the direction of the light when you took this shot or it could just be my monitor.

Nice shot ... nice composition. I like the detail on the flowers, but also think it's a tad too dark. I'd bump up the gamma a little & then I think the end result would bring out the bee's features more. Sandi you're doing a great job with the extension tubes.

Looks like the tubes do a great job although I suspect the photographer had something to do with it. It's a bit dark for me but the colors and detail are awesome -
