Black Birds are very difficult birds to capture with the camera & I'd say you succeeded with this one, Sandi. I like the lighting on the black bird to show off the purple on his head, neck, & wings. Nice detail, DOF, & composition.
I think that might be a Boat Tail Grackle Sandi. Just judging by the Iridescent coloring and the tail itself. They do look a lot alike. Grackles are just a smidge larger in size also than a Black Bird.
This Image GRABBED my EYE. That's Why I Stopped By. Thanks For Sharing ! Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience
"Love the gorgeous iridescent blue on the bird's head."is exactly what I was going to say. Steve beat me to it. Good capture Sandi. That beak looks quite lethal ! I think it is a Brewer's Blackbird
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
