Black Birds are very difficult birds to capture with the camera & I'd say you succeeded with this one, Sandi. I like the lighting on the black bird to show off the purple on his head, neck, & wings. Nice detail, DOF, & composition.

I think that might be a Boat Tail Grackle Sandi. Just judging by the Iridescent coloring and the tail itself. They do look a lot alike. Grackles are just a smidge larger in size also than a Black Bird.
