This past summer while driving to the local park, I noticed that traffic was getting backed up, my turn off was just before the backed up traffic.

A short time later the good Samaritan helicopter landed in the park to air lift a young boy that was skate boarding across the intersection, and had been hit by a car.

He was 11 years old, and his injuries were extensive so the decision was made to air lift him to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is an hour's drive by car.

He had surgery, and did come through the ordeal okay. He had darted out into the intersection after the light had changed.

Earlier I had posted a shot of this helicopter after it landed in the park, and was able to get a shot of the pilot, some might remember it, but I have since removed it from my gallery.

This is my entry into the current contest.

Thank you for commenting.

We are due to get some bad weather today, possible high winds up to 70miles an hour, and could be some heavy tornado outbreaks, everyone in that path of storms, I truly hope you come through it okay, hopefully it won't be as bad as their calling for.

I hope to be still online later on in the day.

Tigs♥ =^..^=

This is one excellent photography the detail is lovely and sharp the colours are natural and most of all the composition is spot on in this stunning photography.Plus the boarder work very nicely against the dark sky and shadow areas in the helicopter .

Excellent contest entry Sandi and I do remember the 1st post. We are already under a tornado watch and storms are breaking out all around us - same predictions as far as winds and damage as you have. Hope everyone remains safe.

1. Weather - as I will forget it if I make it #2. LOL
For the moment we have it behind us - the heavy winds, with hurricane-like gusts.
2. Superb entry for the contest. Simple [which we agreed that we all like :)] yet providing abundant information just in one shot.
3. The story accompanying [should be a must on regular basis in terms of explanation or presentation of plots, characters etc] is great.
4. Last not least. Stay safe and better indoors than out. Take care of the new kitty who is not regarded as any newbie any more I trust LOL

Sandi, in the first place I like to say that I really hope that the bad weather forecast won't become true. In the second place, it's good to see that your state too can offer optimal conditions when someone's life is in danger. Last but not least, I like to say that, to me, this a perfect entry for the contest.
Therefore it's very logical that I wish you good luck with it, my dear friend!

Regards, Cornelius.

A nice beautiful shot of this helicopter and it is well apparent that it is used for transport of those suffering from life threatening circumstances. The reporting of the matter fits nicely for a journalistic entry. If you choose to enter it it is a good entry for the contest Sandi. I hope the weather will not cause any damage.

I didn't get a chance to see the other post but this one is really great. I love the clarity and color. These pilots and nurses are great unsung hero's in my book to.

Wonderful action shot and colours.

Well we had over 70mm/3in of rain in less then 24 hours and winds up to 90km/60mph, now snow. Lot of homes were flooded, but lucky ours wasn't.
