Shot through fencing, the difference in the eyes are from the fencing.

Wouldn't it be nice if this primate could live in the wild like it's meant too? But it's past with humans has brought it to Black Pine where it will live a safe existence.

I don't know the story of what brought him or her to the sanctuary.

Thank you for commenting. I think the facial expression speaks for all animals, those that are in confinement, abused, and or loosing their natural habit.

There's a bleak look of indifference in this primates face that speaks volumes. The only animal sanctuaries we have in the UK are for domestic pets, America take note!

Beautiful close-up Sandi. He's showing a great deal of expression which you've captured nicely. (Where does O.B. want to crop? lol)

Very nice close-up of the primate Sandi. His/Her expression shows sadness and uncertainty. An expressive soulful look.

SAS dearest,
I agree with our 00Jethro about Planet of the Apes. This face is exactly Kim Hunter's make-up as Dr Zira [you know, this female who helped Charlton Heston]. The "total indifference" is another statement that appeals to me, and I do not think that is has to speak volumes only about the sadness and despair. If you look at my Boris face, you would have to come to the conclusion that he is deliberating suicide, judging by his regular "joy" expressed in the eyes and mouth 23 hours and 55 minutes every day :)
I do hope that the wild and domestic animals get the best care and protection in the sanctuaries, but of course I might be wrong in some cases...
Enough philosophy and existential issues as we are likely to end up with the severe case of Weltschmerz.:)
This is one precious image for its artistic and humanistic values.
Thanks, Sandi dear.

It breaks my heart to see these beautiful creatures behind bars due to the selfishness of human beings . The sadness in those eyes brings tears to mine.
