I am not a great fan of textures Sandi. I prefer things shown as they are. In my opinion here the texture is fine as background but not on the bird. Good capture of this big bird.

Strangely enough, I must admit that as keen as I am on manipulations these days including textures etc, I would agree with Raj. The textures here work very well as the background indeed, but do not make the bird too much more charming [if this is a female, then you might land in trouble:)].

Stunning looking capture and I love how the background blends in with the colours of the crane plus lovely detail in this capture and superb close up and composition too Sandi. Also very artistic looking photography as well.
