Caught this little cutie in a bit of movement using the new lens, the 70-200mm Nikkor. I had three of my lens's with me today, so will share some using all three. I did crop this a fair amount, and Aperture set at 2.8. shutter speed 1/2500s hand held, and I realize now that I had vibration reduction off.

Thank you for commenting.

Ah, yes my little Chickadee! Looks like he might get blown away, Tigz.
Excellent bokeh.

I'm liking that new lens of yours, Sandi. Sharp details and great bokeh. W.C. Fields would be proud of you too!

You must have steady hands , Sandi. f2.8 generally has a very short depth of field which is what you got, and it's a nice out of focus background. Well done.

Good shot with sharp focus on the bird and a nice bokeh as background Sandi. That lens is good.

Sandi, thanks for another fine, well taken, one taken with your new lens. I agree with the by Doug (snapshooter87) given comment above, the more that the Vibration Reduction (VR) feature was switched off.
I'm curious for the results of the other two used lenses.
It keeps you busy, my friend, lol!

No need for VR on at that shutter speed..I would try a smaller aperture something like f/5.4-f/8.0...Keep the f/2.8 for when the light get's bad or indoors or portraits..You will get more detail at f/8 than at f/2.8...Shutter speed .That camera you have will allow ISO's well into the 3200's...VR is fine for shots that are slower than the focal length of the lens and can be detrimental if used at really high shutter speed..By the time the VR kicks in the picture has been taken..I always try to take wildlife at a shutter speed between 500-1500 sec at f/8 if possible..ISO 100-200....If not I up the ISO to a max of 1600..but that full frame jobby of your would go way past that..Nice picture too..R.

that lens sure has some speed, nice action captured. you didnt mention the ISO so i cant comment there, i really dont see the need in jacking up the ISO and taken a chance in introducing grain into the shot and the melt in the background when you can produce shutter speeds that fast. i dont see the need to increase the fstops which would give more depth and less melt to the background. i do agree with no VR needed at those shutter speeds...but when hand held? you better be steady no matter no vr or not. then again, what do i know? :)

I'll leave all the technical details to those with more knowledge than I - I like the blurred background but would have preferred a tighter shot on the bird but that may not what you were trying to accomplish with this testing of the new lens. No matter it's a very good result.
