I took this one the other day at the calendar garden. I grabbed a chair at the garden, and sat and waited. I tried many shots of him each time he would come back. I managed a few decent ones.

I used the Nikon D500 with the Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, handheld. Here is some shooting info for you:

Metering Spot, Shutter Speed 1/4000, ISO 1250, Focal length 200mm. The image has been cropped.

As always I appreciate your comments, thanks my friends.

With that shutter speed you got the wing of the bird without blur. Good well timed capture Sandi.

I strongly assume you used a tripod and very fast shutter speed. Very nice focus, and I like how you offset it to give space.

Absolutely great shot! These are very difficult to catch. I've tried, you succeeded.

You must have the patience of a saint to wait for this guy to slow down long enough to allow this shot which remarkably shows no blur. Thank you, St. Tigs for a remarkable shot.

He really goes for those columbines - I get them visiting the terrace every year but I can never get a shot - great timing and patience.

Sandi, this wonderful image shows not only floral splendor, but shows perfectly the size of the hummingbird as well.
Compliments for your done effort. Your patience was rewarded. Just great, my friend! Thanks!
