This was a new one for me when I saw it recently and I was taken with how pretty these berries were. Here's some info from Wikipedia: "Symphoricarpos, commonly known as the snowberry, waxberry or ghostberry, is a small genus of about 15 species of deciduous shrubs in the honeysuckle family. With the exception of the Chinese coralberry, which is indigenous to western China, all species are native to North and Central America. The flowers are small, greenish-white to pink, in small clusters of 5-15 together in most species. The fruit is conspicuous, 1-2 cm in diameter, soft, varying from white to pink to red and in one species , blackish purple. When the white berries are broken open, the fruit inside looks like fine, sparkling granular snow. Common Snowberry is an important winter food source for quail, pheasant, and grouse, but is considered poisonous to humans." I have a very busy week ahead and a new class starting Wednesday so I thought I'd get a jump on my Monday post although it is already Monday for many.

Wonderful capture Kathy. Love the subtle tones of the berries. I have some shrubs in my garden as well. Perhaps I'll post a picture of it later as Foofy Friday image.

I think these are the same berries I have growing in my woods ... most of mine are a redder color, but have seen some pink ones as well. I always tell people (especially kids) not to eat them. Beautifully captured, Kathy.

A good close up on the berries, Kathy. I don't recall seeing much in the pinkish berry department while out in the woods in this area. Good composition of the scene.
