This is a rare orchid only found in Australia and only in the wild. This is from Wikipedia: "Occurring from Queensland to South Australia, to even Tasmania, this plant is found in eucalyptus woodland in coastal or swampy shrub land and heathland. Mostly near the coast, but occasionally at higher altitudes." It is generally not successful in cultivation lasting only a year or two before dying. The Chicago Botanic Garden worked for two years to have this one ready for this year's show. I believe they did some cross-breeding to get a stronger plant that still resembled the wild one.

Kathy, I have never seen such wonderful colored ducks 'in flight', lol.

Wonderful capture and a very interesting (Wiki)narrative.
Very well done, my friend!

I don't imagine they last long past duck hunting season. Good lighting and shadows in the photo, and lovely colours in the blooms. A great find, Kathy.
