A variety of coreopsis - same family as black-eyed Susan - these were quite showy in their coloring.

Very vivid colors, Kathy.
Probably well chosen by Mother Nature so that they won't escape from any attention (in particular flying critters like bees and butterflies).

I know black-eyed Susan but this is new to me. The yellow/red combination looks good and attracts die "pollen carriers".
