I am not sure what these wildflowers are called, but I just always enjoy them so much this time of year. There is an abundance of flowers in the wild in Oregon right now. So many new ones seem to pop up each day, it makes me "wild" with my photo treks too !! lol Often people here at the Saturday Markets, where things are handmade, they will take this "flower" and spraypaint it in gorgeous bright colours, and they sure look grand ! I'd like to have some of your comments please..thanx for peeking in.

A good strong composition and the silhoueete is terrific.......backgrounsd is also good and I see that Oregon is, indeed, a beautiful countryside...do not kow the flower-appears to be in burr family....good work!

These flowers dry up in the fall and are great as part of decorative bouquets and things. We used to call them 'teezels' (sp?) but i cannot find anything like that online so it must be a nick name.

Nice shot by the way!

looks like some sort of thistle Verena, but I could be wrong. Nice capture and the framing shows it off well. Patti

Russell was right... they are called Teasel and they were long, long ago used for carding wool..but these sure look great standing against the clouds.

I was lucky enough to get this picture in the voting booth. I would have given it more than a ten if I could. This is beautiful.

This is neat! Yeah, we used to call them thistles too. I used to see where had spraypainted them to make Christmas wreaths when I was much younger. Great capture..=)

Very nice Verena. Love the clarity of the foreground, vs. the less sharp clouds. Pretty as a picture!!

Very nicely presented Verena. I don't care if these are "weeds" - they're beautiful.

We call them obnoxtious!!! Yes thistles! They are pretty but if they go to seed, you have so many of them that it takes a few years to get rid of them all! They do make great flower arrangements though and the dried flower lasts and lasts!

Love the picture and framing!
