We call these little weeds hitchhikers because when you are walking through the woods they stick to your socks and clothes and dogs and are a general nuisance to pull off. But they were beautiful (and harmless) encased in ice.

I never heard them called that before - but then I can't think what we call them here at all. Nice idea, hitchhikers hitching a ride inside the ice! I'm enjoying your ice series a lot.

Thanks to all my friends for the wonderful images I get to look at and learn from on Caedes every day. I always have something to say about them, but don't always have the time to record it. Please forgive me if I can't comment on all of your uploads.

I still can't believe it's so cold already :o( even my local duck pond has a partial sheet of ice !! We could be in for a severe winter. :o(

How well I remember hitchhikers! They used to get stuck in our horses' manes and tails and forelocks and were a real pain to get out. I love that lonnnnng icicle. Looks to me like it formed overnight, enjoyed a mini-thaw...to the point of forming a drop at the end, and then fell under another freeze. Nice winter shot of an unusual subject. Thanks!

Good one my friend. They like horse manes too.
They look better encased in ice! No prick no stick.

Encased in this ice, they appear so harmless, but in warmer times, they're such a pain!! Love how you captured them in the frozen moment of time.
