A friend spotted these and gave me a heads up! Monarchs travel up to 2,000 miles from Canada to Mexico at this time of year. I've never seen them clustering on a pine tree before so I was very excited to get some pictures. Sometimes they'll fill a whole tree. My dream is to make it to Mexico someday to see where they winter over.

They are so beautiful. It must be great to see them in real life. I hope you realise your dream soon.

Who could imagine that such delicate beauties could migrate such a long distance? They're obviously a lot tougher than they look. Let's hope that trip to Mexico will be soon Hilda.

Must be a half way resting spot. They probably get pretty tired going that distance. Beautiful shot, Hilda.

I've seen this type of cluster just once, and I didn't have my camera. It was unforgettable. Great pic, Hilda!

Very nice Hilda, We haven't had a heavy migration thru here for thirty years but it is still fresh in my memory. Monarchs were everywhere I looked for several days. Thanks for reminding me.
