Understand that Evert van Kuik was asked by Caedes to comment on your 'Closure' image. After reading his comments, I like to say this:
Many members of different countries are taking part in Caedes. Not all of them are speaking the English language that good, but that isn't the question at all, as Caedes is a photo-site and not a site to judge the knowledge of the English language spoken or written by foreign members, the more you've showed us to understand comment written by foreign members very well.
I agree with Evert's comment for two reasons:
1. Evert prefers to be 'honest' above being 'polite';
2. Evert has excellent photographic skills and knows where he's talking about.
Think one should be grateful when a professional takes time and spend effort in order to try to improve someone else's photographic skills. When you don't understand this, it's saying more about you than about Evert.
That's my straight forward opinion.
By the way: English is one of the four foreign languages I speak. I'm curious if you are able to express you in another language. Please let me know in Dutch please, but not in 'turbo-English' like I've read in the narrative of your 'Closure' post .
Hi Austinie! I like your photo, specially the sky! I have to agree with Evert and Cornelius. Don't let your feelings be hurt by honest criticism. I was the same as you when I first started getting other persons thoughts and feelings about things I did a few years back. But as time went by I became more respecting of someone being honest with me rather than sugar coating it. We all want to hear nice things and be complimented. But to improve, say photography, with you and myself, I have to at least consider what is being said, and do it detached and objectively. As if I'm looking at someone elses photography. Then I can see clearer. But if I allow sensitive emotions to interfer I will create a veil that doesn't allow me to see what is being suggested. These are only suggestions and all I have to do is consider! If it fits then I will make changes. If it doesn't I toss it! But in Everts case and many others here, they have alot of experience and have done some great photography, and if you check their galleries you will see that. I personally want to know how I can make my photos better and will ask from time to time or read the suggestions on my photo, or even read books or go online. The question is how important is photography to me and how can I express ideas or feelings through a photograph that will come through to other people, which takes a little thinking. Anyway, I hope you will consider what is said and not let your feelings be hurt. It isn't anyones intention to hurt you! Good image here and hope you have a happy day! Allen
