Losing Color on Uploads Accipiter 10/22/04 12:40 AM GMT I've noticed that two of the images I've uploaded recently have changed color somewhat and lost overall brightness and saturation. Both shots contain closeups of autumn leaves which are predominantly yellow with patches of red. The original jpegs on my system show well saturated yellows and reds pretty much identical to the leaves I actually shot. However, after upload to the site, the color saturation of the yellow was reduced, the reds had changed to dull brown, and the overall image was less http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=247708
Colour Changes _SNAPDRAGON_ 10/08/08 7:39 PM GMT Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can help me with something. Often when I upload an image, the colour appears significantly faded from the original (it seems to happen more with warmer colours). Subsequently I either leave up an image I'm not 100% happy with or take it down, boost the colour and re-upload it, which is quite frustrating for both me and everyone else (esp. the mods, to whom I sincerely apologise). Has anyone else ever had this problem or know of any way it could be avoided? http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=2364622
RGB or sRGB jeenie11 10/16/08 3:47 PM GMT i have currently been corresponding in "non art website issues" about loss of color. if you check it out you'll see that nigel suggested setting my camera at sRGB as well as the monitor and photoshop preferences. in visiting the camera store in my area, Tempe Camera (a highly respected place) one of the salesmen encouraged me to set the 5D as well as the 10D to RGB and then when editing change the profile. he thought that the RGB made for better printing. so my question is........do i take t http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=2376902
Gone a bit green Tootles 04/13/07 3:05 PM GMT As someone who's still learning, I'm trying to make sense of the following: (1) I made a wallpaper in Photoshop Elements and saved one copy as a JPEG file, and another copy as a PNG file. (2) I tried them both on my desktop. The JPEG was a trifle darker, but had the same pleasant green as the Photoshop file. The PNG was slightly paler, and the green had become a rather nasty olive. (3) I viewed the offending PNG file in Photoshop Elements along with the JPEG - and now both of them had the ple http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=1480782
Could someone help me with a colour problem with my Epson Printer? verenabloo 08/11/08 2:39 AM GMT I am having a major problem with my Epson printer. It's fairly new and have never had a problem with it before. I am making copies of some photos for a friend, graduation photos, she is wearing a purple gown and the photo I print out is doing the gown in blue! I have gotten new ink cartridges, checked all setting in the printer, the computer, Photoshop and Paint Shop along with the scanner. I cannot seem to be able to change it. Does anyone out there know what else I could try? Please? I need he http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=2281262
Monitor Calibration mtnman 09/07/06 1:12 PM GMT Sorry if this is out of scope for this forum, but I'm trying to calibrate my monitor prior to working with my photos in PhotoSuite Elements. I'm using the Adobe Gamma to perform this, but am not getting anywhere. The first instruction is to crank the contrast on my monitor all the way up to 100%, then adjust the brightness to a specific point (in my case, brightness had to be adjusted all the way down to around 20%. Then, as I go to set the white-point on the monitor, I'm asked to play with s http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=1058708
Adobe Lightroom Beta smoosh 08/30/06 1:08 AM GMT Just thought I would share a link to some new software from Adobe that is in Beta until January 2007. It's supposed to be helpful to photographers and digital camera enthusiasts. Read more about it here: Download.com. http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=1038466

Colors noahnott 05/08/08 5:54 AM GMT Yeah, so this photoshop thing is killing me. I've tried every possible color profile option in photoshop, yet my photos still 'lose' color when I view them on the web ... or in Finder ... or when I print. Then when I open them in photoshop, the color comes back to life... ...so ... where's this checkbox that I'm missing? btw, I'm referring to these photos ... quick edits (that took me a long time); I need to make them more consistent; but after I figure out what looks best (and figure out the http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=2119623
Screen Calibration kjh000 10/27/05 7:42 AM GMT I've discussed this in the past with some of you and revived my thoughts about it in a series of PMs with a friend here. I submitted an image I made yesterday, called B&W Calibration. This image will not help with the sorry business about setting colors per se on screens for obvious reasons... ^_^ My hope is that it could help in setting the right level of brightness or in other words, white and black point. ePaperPress has got a great page on the subject. I've borrowed the idea of using those http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=528979
editing jeenie11 12/04/11 10:22 PM GMT I have noticed a great difference in the way things look on my computer before I upload them and the way they look on Caedes. Someone I suggested that I calibrate my display. I was wondering if someone uses a Mac and would be willing to give me a set of numbers for setting. Also, what bit do you use? Thanks so much. jen http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=3508093
Color differences? rforres 10/23/10 9:50 PM GMT I've noticed that the colors in my photos seem to change when I upload images to Caedes. This is only since I've upgraded to Lightroom 3, so the problem is likely something on my end. I export as 8 bit sRGB (my other options are 16 bit and ProPhoto RGB or Adobe RGB (1998) ). To see the difference, please compare this image at Caedes and this image at Zooomr. It seems that my photos here are less vivid, especially the reddish tones. Any input on how to correct this would be appreciated! :) http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=3211754
Fotoweek DC (now closed) Pixleslie 08/21/08 10:58 PM GMT http://www.fotoweekdccontest.org/rules.shtml Restrictions: Looks like it's only for residents in the DC area and students enrolled in DC area institutions. "DC area" seems to include neighboring MD and VA counties. See site for details -- I'm too foggy to sort it all out. To the DCmeetup folks -- I think this sucks, but maybe I'm reading it wrong and your images are as viable as any issuing from local crustaceans like me. Deadline: Sept. 22, 2008 (Sept. 29 if you like paying a late fee) http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=2297858
Canon iX4000 printer theshrew 03/28/07 1:01 PM GMT I've just set this new printer up at home, tried it out and found that the prints, though good and nice and crisp, are definitely 'warmer' than I would like. I am going to do some prints for a local (Highland and Islands) competition soon and wondered if any of you know of and could tell me a good print set-up to get more accurate colour. I can print from Adobe PSE5 if necessary. http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=1455576
Monitor Calibration brphoto 08/04/04 8:52 AM GMT As many people comment on the colors of images here, those who haven't already, should consider calibrating their monitors. That way, if an image is red; everyone will see the same red, not pink or burgundy (or any number of thousands of shades in between). Monitors need to be properly calibrated and profiled to accurately display color and tone. ISO standards for digital imaging state that a monitor should have a white balance of 6500K and a gamma of 2.2. The most accurate method of calibratio http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=194389
Repeat uploading rejected or deleted image reminders. philcUK 08/27/07 10:00 AM GMT Repeat uploading reminders. There are several images seemingly doing the rounds at the moment that keep getting pulled by their artists and re-uploaded for no apparent reason – presumably to have another bash at the voting booth. Apart from being against the sites rules this is ultimately a pointless exercise as chances are it will receive a worse score as people will become tired of seeing the same shot appearing in the VB and you will end up getting an apathy driven score. Uploaded Images Losing Color chadwik05 03/17/12 4:46 AM GMT I've had this issue before and always kind of ignored it but it really seemed noticeable in this case. I upload images but find that they look different than the image on my computer. I have a link showing a comparison between the image on my computer and the image once it's been uploaded.http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/714/deerpics.png/I've uploaded the image as .jpeg and .png but the same problem occurs.
