....and I'll be in Scotland a'fore ye, for me and my true love will never meet again, by the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. (by Donald McDonald). The story goes (as told by our guide) that when the Jacobite Rebellion came to an end, he was one of the captured Scottish soldiers and imprisoned with another soldier. They were given the choice - one would be set free, the other would die. Donald wrote the song to his fellow prisoner and the low road referred to his own death and that his soul would reach the banks of Loch Lomond before him. :'( beautiful story and one of many.
