This is located in Louisiana, Missouri and in the background you can see the Mississippi River and the Louisiana Railroad Bridge. It is a swing truss bridge and as you can see it is open for water traffic. A barge will soon be approaching the bridge and I will share a photo with you in the future.
According to Wikipedia the Louisiana Railroad Bridge carries a single track rail line across the Mississippi River between Louisiana, Missouri and Pike County, Illinois. It is currently owned by the Kansas City Southern Railway. A predecessor of this bridge was opened for service in 1873, and the current span was built in 1897-1898.
I posted a photo of a Swing Truss Bridge some time ago. You can view it here. I will use this photo as my entry for the gates contest, because the swing bridge serves as a gate and the pillars holding the sign serves as a gate as well.
