I call this barn Mike because years ago there used to be a home on this site. No, the owner's name wasn't Mike. It was Bob. Bob had a boy. He was about my age. No, his name wasn't Mike. It was Jeff. My late father bought a coon dog from Bob and the dog's name was Mike. I guess I could have said that in the beginning. This is the barn where my photo Barn Door was taken. You can see the purple paint on the post in the foreground. This denotes there is "No Hunting" or "Trespassing," allowed. In other words KEEP OUT. I did on this shot, but I fudged a little on the shot of the door and wasn't there too long. I used a fast shuffle speed.

I might add that Mike was a great coon dog and won many trophies for my dad. You could hear him barking and howling when he was on the trail of the raccoon. Mike not dad. When Mike ran the coon up a tree and started howling, it really cut through the night air and was music to my dad's ears. My, what a great memory.

Nothing like a good dog story. Well, maybe a very good photograph to go with it. Looking at your picture, I feel like I am sneaking up on that barn, avoiding obedience to the "no trespassing" stamp of disapproval at the property's entrance. Sneaking up, gradually passing the areas where dog vs raccoon have left scent and track. Sneaking up ever so closer to get the best view of this view.

I sure like the country fried image I see here, not so in favor of hunting, but that is just me. I enjoyed the narrative, well done.

Excellent narrative and a lush rural shot to go with it.

I don't know, you were taking a chance for that close-up shot. You did a good job on the door though and this is a fine capture of the whole barn.

Kind of a "lonely and long ago" sort of picture with the farmhouse being gone... These kind of farms that we often remember have mostly become a thing of the past...With corporations taking over, Farming today has become a "9 to 5 Occupation"... Things change faster than you think!

Nice presentation, Cap'n...

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), this is a great post (both image and story/narrative, the latter with a humorist touch).
There's no need to say more about it, as it would reduce my time to enjoy it.
Saved+Faved. Thanks for sharing this splendid countryside view and the grin/smile because of your narrative, 👍 !

You made a nice little story out of this picture Tick. You have a great talent (besides speaking horse language) for that. I like this photo. It is lonely but lovely.
