LynEve just announced on the the Bulletin Board that Doug Bays has passed away. He was known to us as Snapshooter. LE said his birthday is March 20th. That is tomorrow for most of us and it was today for LE. Join me in wishing him a Happy Birthday and a salute for a life well led.

We corresponded some and I had the upmost respect for the man. We shared a love of dogs and journalism. It's too bad he never had a chance to use the new photojournalism gallery. He has many in his gallery that qualify. Some of those should be changed to the photojournalism gallery. He also had one that would have been the winner for the current street photography contest. It is titled Park Bench.

Below are some of his shots that I admire:

My Buddy Blue

The Guard Puppy

Half A Century

Doug is another reason we should have a Hall of Fame to honor members who have passed away. It would be the greatest of tributes. In case you would like to read Doug's Obituary I will post links to a couple in case one doesn't work. Here and here.

I'm so sorry to hear this Tick - I have an email file dedicated to the ones Doug sent me with tips and trick and comments on my shots - I learned much from him. I agree about that Hall of Fame idea.

Greetings friends. I'm passing through to express my condolences for Doug. I remember him fondly. He was always ready and willing to help retouch my images and offer composition suggestions. We often laughed at sharing the same first name. I sure he will meet up with Blue up in heaven. Rest in peace.

Sad to hear that another caedes member has gone.

Beautiful and bright sunset very well photographed Tick. An apt image for a caedes friend who has gone.

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), the news that one of our Caedes-friends has passed away is always very sad news.
My sincere condolences are going for his family.
Your post (very appropriate sunset image, and narrative with the links) is a great tribute. Hope that it will reach the family as well, as it may comfort them.

A 'post-mortem' thanks for what you've done for the site, Doug.

That you may Rest In Peace.

This image is a wonderful tribute to a kind person, who I had the pleasure of corresponding with over the years, and we met here on Caedes. I talked to him twice on the phone, the second time he told me he was having health issues, and I have thought of him so many times wondering about him. Thanks for the link, Tick, I have and will continue to miss him.
