This façade of the Gaudi's masterpiece is oriented to west...Sharp geometrical shapes and bare and austere ornamentation are used to represent the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ..The sobriety of this façade is also transmited through the columns ,which look like bones and the severe sculptures...see also. ...

Once again what craftsmanship. I like the angle, but maybe one of those cranes would have given you a lift for "bird's eye view." I like that you included them. It really gives me a sense of heighth of Cathedral. If it's this beautiful and detailed on the outside, I can only image what it's like inside. Very good post and I'm impressed by your knowledge of architecture. I bet your attention to detail makes you a wonderful MD. Have a good day.

This cathedral immediately reminded me of the Petronas Towers. Wonder if they served as the inspiration... thanks for sharing.

Adriana, I try to avoid, as far as possible, that cars are shown in my images, but that's nowadays almost impossible. Think you had the same problem as I had already many times, but this time it aren't cars, but 'image disturbing' cranes. We have to accept this. You succeeded, however, in showing again some of Gaudi's wonderful architecture in a very attractive way. Thanks for that. Regards, Cornelius

Another great shot of Gaudi's unfinishied work of art. I would love to see this in person someday.

the fact that this cathedral is taking so long for completion means that the architecture must be mixed from old to very modern - it is very interesting to see what appears an old design but modern statues incorporated into the spires! It is a nice perspective! I am sure the people of Barcelona wish for the day that the cranes disappear so that they can admire it in it's entirely without the disturbing appearance of the equipment! Another great shot Andriana - thank you for educating us - I have only seen it once briefly in passing.

They decide to finish what Gaudi began in 1881 I only expect that they do not damage this master piece.
The towers with 112 meters high are really very impressive.
You choose a nice, excellent work.

Aaah, what a view. You did as good as Mr. Gaudi did with this work. He would love you for that shot.
